Pilates focuses on stretching and strengthening the whole body to improve balance, muscle-strength, flexibility and posture. It was created by German-born Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s and incorporates elements of yoga, martial arts and Western forms of exercise.
We offer mat classes taught by experienced teachers for all levels; from beginners’ courses to advanced classes as well as private 1-2-1 sessions at the studio.
- Beginner This class is designed for those new to Pilates or those who have a small amount of experience. The class will slowly introduce you to the foundation principles, focusing on combining basic movements with your breath and allowing time to concentrate on centering your body, whilst learning how to engage your core muscles. The class will focus on posture and alignment and for those working with injuries, modifications to exercises will always be offered.
- Intermediate This class is aimed at those looking to develop a deeper awareness of the core muscles, increase flexibility and develop more control within each movement. Some Pilates experience or a good fitness level is required. Perfect for those looking to further their Pilates knowledge and find balance between mind and body.
- Advanced This class is suitable for those with good levels of core strength, flexibility and technique and are looking to really challenge their practice, whilst developing more flow and precision within their movements.
